Morning Healing 🌤 Superfood Smoothie Bowl

For starters, it is pronounced Ch-Aa. Not Ch-Ai. Second, I have been loving this smoothie bowl as I transition out of the cold winter. The spices, superfoods, and toppings warm your soul while the bowl itself is quite refreshing. This bowl is filled with a healers touch and I can proudly say my Bibi(Grandma in Punjabi) would be proud of these ingredients.

Hopefully it is the last cold and flu season and I wanted to use some healthy ingredients to support the immune system. So this turmeric chai smoothie bowl is a flavour combination of healthly golden milk i and chai tea. It is delicious! and nourishing! Oh and : smoothie bowls are so fun to decorate and top! 😉

WHAT IS GOLDEN MILK?

Have you ever heard of golden milk? It’s a combination of turmeric, coconut milk or oil and black pepper. Turmeric contains curcumin which a strong anti-inflammatory and promotes healthy cell function. Black pepper has properties that help you absorb the turmeric better and the coconut oil or milk has antioxidants and can help against certain viruses.

Turmeric Smoothie Bowljpg

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk(or any other milk)

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1/2 Frozen Banana

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 2 teaspoons ginger, fresh grated

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1-2 tablespoons honey(optional)

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional)

    • raspberries, coconut, chia seeds, granola, nut butter, banana slices… to garnish(optional)


DIRECTIONS

  1. In a blender add the frozen banana, coconut milk, avocado, vanilla, and all the spices and blend on high. The amount of liquid will vary depending on the quality of your blender. I highly recommend a good quality blender for smoothie bowls!

  2. Add to a bowl and top with any fruits, nuts, seeds, or coconut. I used raspberries, coconut, and chia seeds.

    I love to top mine with granola, peanut butter, banana slices, coconut shreds, and raspberries!
