Imz Overnight Oats

It is true that there is nothing like a warm bowl of oatmeal in the morning but some people stereotype this food as “bland” and “boring”. I am here to tell you that oatmeal can in fact be quick, fun, and delicious. When I am having a busy, jam packed week, I love to opt for creamy, thick overnight oats.

Overnight oats offer a range of health benefits, due to their rich fibre and protein content. They also contain a number of vitamins and minerals, some of which include manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. This makes overnight oats healthy for your gut, as well as for overall health and well-being.

Here, I am going to share with you, my two go-to overnight oat combinations.

Creamy Cacao Overnight Oats🌰

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 - 2/3 cup of -> you can use any milk

  • 1 tbsp cacao powder/ + Option to add Chocolate Protein

  • 1 tbsp of peanut butter + extra to top!

  • 1 -2 tbsp honey or to taste

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds optional

Cinnamon Protein Oats💪🏽

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 - 2/3 cup of -> you can use any milk

  • 1 Scoop of Vanilla Protein

  • 1/2-1 tsp of Cinnamon to taste*

  • 1 -2 tbsp honey or to taste

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds optional

INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a glass jar, add all ingredients. (To determine the amount of milk to use, I found that 1/2 cup was just the right amount to cover and soften all the oats, but with very little liquid leftover the next morning. I like my oats this way but if you prefer runnier oats with some liquid leftover, I suggest adding 2/3 cup milk.) Mix everything together with a spoon until combined. You can taste and add more sweetener as needed. Since I add fresh fruit to mine in the morning, I prefer to keep the sugar level low.
2. Seal jar and store in refrigerator for at least a few hours, but preferably overnight. Eat the next morning as is or with fresh fruit. You can also prepare up to a week's worth ahead of time.
I like the Bob's Red Mill old fashioned or extra thick oats.

3. Top your oats with some fun toppings like fresh fruit, nuts, coconut shred, nut butter and whatever fills your craving!

Overnight oats are such a great way to prep your breakfast the nigh before to ensure that you are using your time efficiently while still nourishing yourself! Overnight soaked oats are very high in their fibre content, which keeps your stomach filled for a longer period of time. It even helps in clearing out your digestive tract. The high resistant starch content guarantees faster fat burning and increasing the body's insulin level.

I love to pair my oats with a black iced coffee or an iced oat milk latte! My friends and I can eat this for breakfast… Every. Single. Day.
