HOW I EAT | A Typical Day

It is often that people ask me the broad question of "what do you typically eat in a day".

First things first... I follow intuitive eating. This means that I eat to satisfy my intuitions and conscious cravings. Intuitive eating is an eating style that promotes a healthy attitude toward food and body image. The idea is that you should eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. Though this should be an intuitive process.

I typically have specific cravings that I love to crush! This ranges from anything such as a sweet breakfast, a savoury lunch and a more carb focused dinner... yes, carbs aren't the enemy!!! Eating in this way has mended my relationship with food and it has allowed me to enjoy every meal that I put in my body.

Breakfast has come to be one of my favourite meals. I typically wake up craving something super sweet with a fat cup of coffee… waffles, french toast, peanut butter and jelly toast, chia seeding pudding, oatmeal… a smoothie bowl! These are just a few of my go-to breakfasts

For lunch, I love to get my greens in and focus on many macronutrients. I typically opt for a salad, some avocado toast, a hearty greens wrap, or a green smoothie! This is always almost accompanied by some source of protein whether it be, eggs, tofu, hemp seeds, quinoa, etc.

Ah yes, dinner. This is where I like to get most of my carbohydrates for the day. Something about having a nice plate of rice, some pizza, chickpea fries from my favourite restaurant, or fresh sushi from down the street just makes my day complete. I also love experimenting with different kinds of plant-based pasta such as black bean pasta, chickpea pasta, and red lentil pasta. Carbs are not the enemy guys!

I am a BIG snacker. I love to keep myself nourished throughout the day and it is not abnormal if you see me reaching for a snack 1-4 times a day. It is no secret that I love my sweets, peanut butter and chocolate if you want to be specific… However,…

I am a BIG snacker. I love to keep myself nourished throughout the day and it is not abnormal if you see me reaching for a snack 1-4 times a day. It is no secret that I love my sweets, peanut butter and chocolate if you want to be specific… However, I do love to reach for some hummus with vegetables, a bowl of popcorn, or quinoa crackers!

A lot of my snacks are quite nutrient dense and considered to be “healthy” but this truly is what my body craves after years of eating whole and unprocessed foods. That is not to say that I do not enjoy a nice ice cream bar, chocolate bar, or slice of cake here and there, it is just not an honest part of my everyday regimen.

I hope this piece gave you all a little bit of insight into what a “typical day of eating” looks like for me and how much I cherish food and meal time in my everyday life. Food is a beautiful thing and it is so important to nourish your body in whichever way you see fit.
